Well another year is almost upon us and it’s time for those New Year’s resolutions. But hold up………Did you keep the resolution from the year before? How long into the New Year before you were back to your old habits? Don’t fret with 2016 right around the corner, I have a bit of advice for you to ensure that you meet and end 2016 with everything that you desire.
No resolutions in 2016 only goals. Most people stick to resolutions maybe 3 weeks in to the new year before sliding back into their old habits. I encourage you to instead set goals and devise a plan to stick to them. Ensure that you write your goals down on paper and place a date of completion by each one. Revisit the goals each day to see if you are on track to meeting them. I also encourage you to make those goals public or secure the help of an accountability partner to help keep you on track.
Join groups in your area that will help you meet your goals. If your goal is to open up a new business find local meet ups in your area for new business owners. If your plan is to save 20k, then find groups that meet up to talk about savings, investing, and finance. You can find these groups at meetup.com….. I don’t recommend one meet up service over another but I have found very helpful meetup groups using the website above.
Create a vision environment to help you remember what you have set out to accomplish this year. You can utilize a poster board but in my home, we create vision environments. You can find reminders of our dream home, dream vehicles, dream vacations, and overall lifestyle that we are working to have. We are always engulfed in what we said we wanted, so we never forget the goal at hand with the help of our vision environment.
Leave fear behind and set BIG goals. I have many mentors tell me that if your goals don’t scare you then they are not BIG enough. Here’s to setting crazy outrageous goals for 2016.
